Charlie first met Scott Jones in 1982 and began working with him as a grain originator working with the area farmers at Metamora Elevator. He has been a grain originator and is a grain merchandiser familiar with merchandising channels, shipping logistics of grain, and rail rates.

He has developed grain elevator procedures, bids, and grain position reports and forecasted grain needs and market conditions for proposed ethanol plants. He has researched production, energy, and feed market contacts for ethanol. He recently researched and complete a feasibility study for an ethanol plant for a client.

Charlie has a Bachelor of Science degree with an economics major and Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on Organizational Development from Bowling Green State University. For several years, he had been a marketing manager which has allowed him to work specifically with leading finance, management, and marketing professors at universities across the country.

He is also involved with a company on the cutting edge of producing new chemicals and products from corn that may replace products that have traditionally come from petroleum, including deicers, detergent additives, and antifreeze.

Charlie grew up on a farm in northwest Ohio and is still involved in the family farm.
